July 26, 2021

July 26th - 30th, 2021 We are hosting a very special Cooking Camp this summer with a guest instructor! A brand new curriculum is planned, covering a variety of culinary skills, cooking techniques, and theories. Your mini "chefs-in-training" will learn to follow recipes while getting hands-on experience! This is one of our favorite camps as it is the children’s first step in preparing and cooking food for themselves and their families. We hope this camp will spark creative interests and inspire kids to pursue their dreams while continuing their educational development in heath, science, arts, and business. For children entering 4th-6th grade. To register email kileyk@ncrdnehalem.org

Youth Center Staff

Leslie Vipond

Leslie Vipond

She grew up in Manhattan, KS, which is also known as the “Little Apple,” just like Manzanita, a funny coincidence. She attended after-school and summer programs at the Boys and Girls club. In high school she joined the crew team as the team coxswain(the person who steers the boat), attending both high school and collegiate national championships. She served terms as president and treasurer of the Manhattan Junior Crew. In college, while studying fine arts and economics, she volunteered coaching with the Masters Crew and youth soccer teams. She’s absolutely thrilled to work at the Youth Center where the local families have after school and summer opportunities for children that she was so grateful to have and experience as a child.

Catherine O’Neal

Catherine O’Neal

She grew up watching her younger siblings. Cat joined the Youth Center after she graduated from Neah-kah-nie High School in 2017. She is passionate about studying cultures around the world and is a master of almost all recreational activities we do with the children. As she is currently interested in the Japanese culture she is currently in the process of learning Japanese language. The interest started when she was in the second grade and has grown into a love of the culture. In her time at the Youth Center she has made a personal connection with all the children she has cared for. This experience has enhanced her life and she hopes the children we care for feel safe and happy when they are with us.
